Our Corporate Giving Mission

Edison International's Corporate Contributions Program mission is to enhance the quality of life for those who live and work in the communities we serve.

Contributions Policy

Edison supports nonprofit and/or non-governmental organizations along with accredited public and private college/universities. To qualify for consideration, such organizations must strive to maintain or improve the quality of life in the community and address specific community needs.

Our Edison International shareholders support all contributions. However, we do not assist individuals or organizations espousing specific causes, including political organizations and candidates, veteran’s organizations, fraternal orders, labor groups, commercial for-profit enterprises, religious or sectarian organizations, or any group whose activities are not in the best interest of Edison International, its affiliates, employees, shareholders, customers or the communities we serve.

Three Fields of Interest

Edison strives to achieve its corporate giving mission by making contributions in three primary Fields of Interest:

  • Expanding Educational Opportunity.
  • Sustaining a Quality Environment.
  • Outreach programs to the Underserved or Disadvantaged.

Expanding Educational Opportunity

Edison International has identified 21st century work force preparation as one of its most important business concerns. Ensuring that Southern California students graduate with the academic and technical skills necessary to succeed in today’s competitive job market is a priority and promotes local and regional economic vitality for all.

Our education strategy focuses on two primary areas:

  • Programs that increase math, science and technology literacy.
  • 21st Century work force development.

Sustaining a Quality Environment

At Edison, we believe that protecting the environment makes good business sense for our customers, shareholders and long-term corporate interests. We are committed to environmental stewardship and energy efficiency.  We support the work of organizations that educate and engage their communities in achieving a healthy and sustainable environment.

Our environmental strategy focuses on three primary areas:

  • Programs that protect and restore the habitats of endangered and threatened plants and animals.
  • Provide environmental education to various communities especially to youth and families.
  • Address water quality and storm water management in ways that use electricity wisely.

Outreach Programs to the Underserved or Disadvantaged

Edison places a high priority on enhancing the ability of individual communities to come together, address their needs and create opportunities for their future for all of its citizens including those who are underserved or disadvantaged. We are particularly drawn to organizations that are rooted in their local communities and whose boards and staff are drawn from them.
