Rack
A metal bracket with porcelain spools to support low-voltage conductors and service wires.
RAP
Reconnect service at the pole.
RCAP
Reconnect cut at pole.
Recloser
A device that starts working when a power interruption occurs. It then closes the power circuit breaker for a pre-set length of time during the break in service.
Relay
A device that senses and responds to abnormal circuit conditions, supplying the power circuit breaker signal to open.
Relayed
The power circuit breaker has opened.
Reliability
Steady, predictable electric service. Continued reliability is a key component of industry restructuring.
Remote Meter Dial
Additional meter dial supplied by Edison customer when access problem exists.
Renewable Energy

Sources of energy which can be generated from natural resources. Nearly 17 percent of SCE’s energy mix comes from wind, solar, biomass, small hydropower and geothermal sources.

Resistance
The opposition offered by a body or substance to a flow of electrons.
Revenue
A rate component that reflects customer charge, when applicable, and the basic rate. The yield from our investment.
Riser
The steel or plastic conduit strapped to a pole that encloses the underground cable to the overhead lines.
Risers
Wires or cables that are run vertically from one floor of a building to another to supply electric current.
